Also, we wanted to get in on the action of spawning a little baby, so we are launching our own label called "Pieater". Why? Why not, duh! Maybe we'll sign bands, maybe we'll make signs.. We don't know what will happen to that little guy.
18/July/2011 - Mix Tape (Film Clip) & Lyrics
Again we've teamed up with UK Animation genius Alice Dupre (who has worked with the likes of Edgar Wright and on films such as Scott Pilgrim Vs the World, and of course Big Scary on Tuesday is Rent Day) she is a genius! keep on eye out for the clip on Rage, Channel V & MTV
Lyrics: Come into my life and jump into my bed
There'll be holding hands, there'll be faces red
You know it ain't fair, I've been working all week
Gotta rest these eyes, gotta get some sleep
You're into music and you're OK too
I just don't know what I'm meant to do about it
It's not fair why i'm left with you
And your holding hands, and your thank-yous
Tell me about your life and tell me about your band
Tell me about your band friends that you see around
I hear it ain't all chance, no it ain't potluck
I'm listening, yeah, but I just don't give a fuck
Won't say much 'cos the truth will hurt
But you can keep your mix tape and the T-shirt
Really gotta rest, gotta get some sleep
But you keep leaning in, you keep whispering
But I, I ain't even here
I'm just bored, I don't know what to do with my love
Meeting on the street and meeting in the bar
Drinks all day, more drinks at the bar
Excuse me please while I duck out back
Need a break from you, you cool with that
When I get back you're still sitting there
Playing with your phone and playing with your hair
It's really tough, I've been working all week
Gotta get home soon, gotta get some sleep
But I, I ain't even here
I'm just bored I don't know what to do with my love
Oh but I, I ain't even calling
I'm just bored, I don't know what to do with my time
Come into my life and climb into my bed
There'll be holding hands, there'll be faces red
I really only offered cos my place was close
I see you're drunk and me, almost
Won't say much cos the truth will hurt
But you can keep your mix tape and the t-shirt
Really gotta rest, gotta get some sleep
But you keep leaning in, you keep whispering
05/07/2011 - Falling Away (Jacques Renault Remix)
Thanks to help from Brooklyn based dj Jacques Renault we have an awesome remix of Falling Away, the track is an exclusive on the soundtrack for Offspring (TV show). Have a listen here...
Tom and I have been holed up the last two months working on our debut album. The recording process is going really well, and we'll have an LP out later in the year. Meanwhile, the first single is out now! It's called "Mix Tape": it's available digitally from iTunes and Bandcamp, and there are also a few limited (numbered) physical copies to order from our online store.
After almost three months of no shows, we're itching to get back on the road again. In June you can catch us supporting The Grates, then in August supporting the talented Liam Finn, in capital cities around Australia.
09/05/2011 - We're making an album!
We’re halfway through tracking our upcoming debut album up in Brisbane. Just having a listen to what we’ve done after two days off and it’s sounding pretty saweet. Last week we were at Airlock up in the hills and it was a really beautiful spot – tree tops out the windows; an acrobatic koala jumping from tree to tree and having a little scurry around the ground; and a possum in the roof pissing on the mixing desk – we got him out the friendly way. Now we’re at The Ark which is a more DIY space with some awesome old keys like a Rhodes and organs and uprights etc, so hopefully we’re gonna get some cool textures in here.
The spaceship control room - that sweet little Korg on the table can create many many hours of fun.
Double floor toms - massive!
Brisbane tends to turn on the torrential rain whenever it feels like it. Apparently this can last anywhere between 10 minutes and 6 weeks. It just meant we were justified in staying inside killing Nazi Zombies on Xbox.
14/02/2011 - Big Scary Mini-tour!
We're excited to announce our "Four Seasons" tour through four of Australia's capital cities. In Brisbane we'll be appearing at the inaugural "Ric’s Big Backyard Festival" along with You Am I & Violent Soho, and will be putting on our own headlining shows in Sydney, Melbourne & Adelaide. See the 'gigs' tab above for tickets. Be quick as our three previous shows have sold out.
05/12/2010 - Four Seasons Album is out!!!
With the end of 2010 sees the completion of "The Big Scary Four Seasons", a project we’ve been working on throughout the year. Each season we've released a limited run of seasonally themed EPs, starting with "Autumn" and culminating in "Summer" and this convenient compilation LP. We were really stoked that "The Big Scary Four Seasons" received feature record on Syn FM, PBS & Radar Digital Radio; 'album of the week' from Beat Magazine; and 4 out of 5 stars from Sydney's mx magazine. We've also pressed it in vinyl (accompanied by a free CD for mp3 use).
24/10/2010 - Sideshow Alley
In the hours before we launched the 'Winter' EP in Melbourne city, we met up with artisans of sight & sound "Sideshow Alley" in Chinatown to do a live shoot of "Satisfy Me", a b-side off the "Hey Somebody" single. We finished just seconds before some rain came. You can see more pieces from Sideshow Alley here (sideshowalley.tv), featuring artists such as Midlake, First Aid Kit and The Australian Ballet.
